HIP ORTHOSES

Hip orthoses are orthopedic devices used to support the hip joint and surrounding muscles, ensure stability, and assist in the management of the treatment process. Hip orthoses are typically designed for individuals experiencing weakness or limited mobility due to hip injuries, orthopedic surgeries, or congenital anomalies.

Types of Hip Orthoses:

Hip-Knee-Ankle-Foot Orthosis (HKAFO): This is a comprehensive orthosis that supports the hip, knee, ankle, and foot areas. It is commonly used for individuals who cannot move their legs sufficiently due to muscle weakness or aging.

Hip Abduction Orthoses: Used to limit movement in the hip. It assists in post-operative care and helps protect the joints, especially after hip dislocation or surgical procedures.

Pelvic Orthoses: These orthoses are used to increase stability in the pelvic region. They allow for more stable hip movements and may help reduce back pain.

Abduction Braces (Abduction Orthoses): These devices limit flexion movements in the hip, maintain specific distances between body parts, and are generally used after hip injuries or surgeries.

Usage Areas:

Hip Dislocation: Used especially to treat hip dislocations in newborns and children.
Post-Surgical Rehabilitation: Ensures stability during the recovery process following hip joint surgeries or fractures.
Neurological Conditions: Beneficial for individuals with limited mobility in the legs due to conditions such as stroke or cerebral palsy.
Hip orthoses are typically custom-designed and shaped according to individual needs. They are important for both pain management and functional recovery.
